The inaugural FEI Eventing Nations Cup Canada held at the Bromont Olympic Equestrian Park saw Team USA dominate the results from end to end over the two day event. Lexington, Kentucky based Elisabeth Halliday-Sharp and the Swedish Warmblood gelding, Miks Master C being the obvious team anchor leading the field in the CCI40-S individually in all phases. The top score also gave Liz the individual win in the CCI40-S division that was held in conjunction with the nations cup.

Eventing Nations Cups take a team to win and it as clear that the US certainly brought that by leading from start to finish.

Halliday-Sharp also won the CCI3-S which was offered in conjunction with the Nations Cup on the Irish Sport Horse gelding, Cooley Nutcracker.

Team Canada certainly did not display any lack of skills over the two days of competition with a second place total team score of 158.3.

Dunham, Quebec’s Colleen Loach finished individually second and third in the 4* with her own warmblood gelding, FE Golden Eye adding just 12 time penalties on cross-country to give the pair a final score of 43.3 counting towards their total team score.

Team Australia while having three excellent horse and rider combinations added 1000 penalties under the rules when Dominic Schramm withdrew after dressage and Ryan Wood withdrew before cross-country adding another 1000 penalties leaving only the very capable Ema Klugman to represent the flag. They finished on a score of 2050.3.

The whole weekend of competition at Bromont saw horse and rider combinations competing in divisions from the Open Training to the 4* level in conjunction with the Eventing Nations Cup over courses designed by Brody Robertson (SJ), Jay Hambly (XC) and Derek di Grazia (XC). Perfect weather and great footing made for a very enjoyable event with many already looking forward to return for the 2023 MARS Bromont CCI in June.
